Reviewing & Revising

Reviewing and revising your investment strategy on a regular basis is crucial to achieving investment success. In the same way that you need to regularly service your car or carry out maintenance on your home you need to review and revise your investment portfolio to make sure it is doing what you want it to do.

As part of our service, we recommend that we meet up with you once or twice a year to review your plans, investment strategy and the underlying investment portfolio. We will normally agree the dates of future reviews at the implementation stage, but this can be varied to suit your requirements. A few weeks before a review is due to take place, we will write requesting that you contact us to arrange a meeting.

We will also enclose a short factfind questionnaire that we ask you to complete and return to us in advance of the review. This lets us know if you have had any significant changes in your circumstances since our last meeting such as changes to your income, outgoings, capital or possibly a change in your attitude towards investment risk. We can use the information you provide to make adjustments to your portfolio, where possible, in order that it can adapt to your changing needs.

As part of any review we carry out, we will examine the performance of your investment holdings and provide you with detailed reports to you on the returns achieved. Where appropriate we will recommend fund switches within the portfolio in order to rebalance the holdings in line with your original objectives. This also applies where we feel there is a better fund or funds available as an alternative to your current holding. Normally, switching from one fund to another within a fund platform is free of charge and we do not levy a fee for arranging switches.

There is a considerable long-term benefit to be gained from these regular review meetings. As with most things in life, small adjustments and corrections made on a regular basis avoids the need for major changes and restructuring later.
